America’s fourth leading cause of death is abortion at the hands of Planned Parenthood
What comes to mind when you think of the top causes of death in the U.S.? Many people’s thoughts immediately turn to killers like heart disease and cancer, but it turns out that the number-four spot actually goes to abortions carried out by Planned Parenthood.
The nation’s biggest abortion provider reported performing
more than 392,000 abortions between October 1, 2021, and September 30, 2022, in its 2022-2023 annual report, which amounts to killing 44 babies every hour. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 695,000 people died from heart disease in the U.S. in 2021, while 605,000 died from cancer, 416,000 are said to have died from COVID-19, and just shy of 225,000 died from accidents.
As upsetting as it may be to think that almost 400,000 babies never got a chance at life thanks to this organization, that figure shouldn’t be too surprising when you consider the fact that they recommended abortion to pregnant clients 97 percent of the time instead of suggesting alternatives such as adoption or supporting them in keeping their child.
The president of the Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America group, Marjorie Dannenfelser, told the
Epoch Times: “Once again, pregnant women who walk into Planned Parenthood are sold an abortion 97 percent of the time, rather than helped to keep their child or make an adoption plan. Meanwhile, they saw 80,000 fewer patients, provided 60,000 fewer pap tests and breast exams, and even gave out less contraception.”
The organization has also been providing children with controversial transgender procedures, including hormone therapy, surgery referrals and puberty blockers.
Michael New of the Charlotte Lozier Institute said that the abortion number Planned Parenthood reported was a record for them and meant that they were responsible for roughly 40 percent of all abortions carried out in the U.S. He echoed Dannenfelser’s concerns that they did all this
while reducing the health services they offer women.
“Between 2022 and 2023, preventive-care visits fell by 31.0 percent, pap tests fell by 13.5 percent, cancer screenings fell by 1.4 percent, and adoption referrals fell by 4.5 percent,” he noted.
Moreover, this concerning trend has been going on for at least a decade. He added: “In the past ten years, the number of abortions performed by Planned Parenthood has increased by 20 percent. Meanwhile, cancer screenings fell by more than 58 percent, and prenatal services declined by more than 67 percent.”
Planned Parenthood uses taxpayer dollars to kill babies
Sadly, they are killing babies using taxpayer dollars, which is something that Republican lawmakers have been taking steps to try to end. In fiscal years 2019 to 2021, they received $1.78 billion worth of federal taxpayer funding, according to a U.S. Government Accountability report. This included more than $90 million that they “illegally siphoned” from the COVID-19 Paycheck Protection Program intended to help small businesses that were impacted by the pandemic.
The co-chair of the House Pro-Life Caucus, Rep. Chris Smith (R-New Jersey) said that federal taxpayer dollars “should not be funneled to big abortion corporations like Planned Parenthood, which has killed over 9.3 million unborn children since 1970, including 1.11 million between 2019-2021.”
Last year, Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colorado) proposed a bill that would defund Planned Parenthood on the grounds that the organization claims it uses funds to provide women with healthcare but is instead increasing abortions while reducing wellness checks and cancer screenings.
The Biden administration has promised to expand Americans’ access to
Planned Parenthood abortion services, and Vice President Kamala Harris visited a Planned Parenthood clinic in Minnesota last month in what was the first visit by a sitting vice president to an abortion facility.
