Report: Michigan Rep. Tlaib a member of secret Facebook group that GLORIFIES HAMAS TERRORISTS

Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) is a member of a secret Facebook group that has glorified Hamas terrorists and espoused antisemitic views. Fox News reported on this finding, noting that the congresswoman is part of the Palestinian American Congress group on Facebook. While the group is hidden from non-members and does not appear on the platform's search engine, the news outlet managed to gain access to it. According to the outlet, she first joined the group in 2017 – a year before she was elected to Congress. The secret Facebook group has reportedly featured posts that glamorize the terrorist group Hamas in the wake of its Oct. 7 attack on Israel. The attack killed hundreds of Israelis and saw operatives from the Palestinian militant group abduct hostages. "We don't want to throw you in the sea; we want you to ride it back from where you came," one member posted on Oct. 12. The member attached a picture of an elderly Israeli woman and a Hamas fighter, who appeared to hold the woman captive. Another member wrote about the "achievements" of the "resistance in Northern Occupied Palestine" on Oct. 19, mentioning that dozens of dead Israeli soldiers were killed. The post included a picture of a Hamas fighter. On Oct. 10, a third group member posted in the group and addressed the American media. "You consider Hamas a terrorist organization, and I am not going to argue with you. At the same time, you have been broadcasting that they have been killing women and children. "At the same time, [there is] no mention [of ] the killing of Palestinian women, children and entire families … on a daily [basis] by the state of Israel using American gifts of weapons and jet fighters."

Tlaib, Abdel-qader and the Squad: The ties that bind

Maher Abdel-qader, the founder of the Palestinian American Congress group, reportedly has extensive ties to Tlaib. Just like the congresswoman he supports, Abdel-qader has also come under fire for his antisemitic posts on social media. "Abdel-qader has participated in several fundraising events with Tlaib over the years and has also appeared in several pictures with her posted to social media accounts," Fox News wrote. "The Palestinian activist has not only been a key fundraiser for Tlaib, including personally donating at least $6,500 to her campaign since 2018, but he was also the chairman of her finance committee during her 2018 congressional campaign. Tlaib introduced him by the title at a campaign event and presented him with a medal in April 2018 as a sign of gratitude for his help with her inaugural campaign." Aside from Tlaib, Abdel-qader has also shown support for several other progressive politicians, including Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO). The Missouri congresswoman joined him in a September 2021 virtual fundraiser, per a post on her now-private Instagram account. In November of that year, Abdel-qader posted a flyer for a fundraising event for Bush. The event was a reception hosted by the St. Louis Palestine Solidarity Committee and the Muslim Community of St. Louis. It solicited donations between $100 and $2,500 for Bush's congressional campaign. Abdel-qader himself also donated $250 to her campaign, Fox News added. On Nov. 13, Abdel-qader posted a flyer on his Facebook advertising a Chicago fundraiser for both Tlaib and Rep. Summer Lee (D-PA). According to him, the two congresswomen "wholeheartedly support" the Palestinian American community and "the just cause of Palestine." Incidentally, the three congresswomen he endorsed – Tlaib, Bush and Lee – are members of the progressive Squad in the House of Representatives. The group led by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) had Tlaib as a founding member. Bush later joined in 2020, while Lee joined in 2022. Tlaib, the only Palestinian American in Congress, has faced scrutiny over her comments about the Israel conflict. The Republican-controlled House of Representatives voted 234-188 to censure her as a formal public rebuke of her anti-Israel remarks following the Oct. 7 Hamas attack.
