Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has found himself at the center of controversy after promoting two pro-Hamas X accounts as reliable sources of real-time information on the ongoing attack on Israel. As the terrorist group Hamas launched a barrage of attacks on Israel, Musk told his X followers to follow @WarMonitors and @sentdefender. In his now-deleted tweet, Musk stated, "It is also worth following direct sources on the ground. Please add interesting options in [the] replies below." @WarMonitors, one of the promoted accounts, responded to Musk's shout-out by thanking him. In response, the billionaire entrepreneur advised, "You’re welcome. As always, please stay as close to the truth as possible, even for stuff you don’t like. This platform aspires to maximize signal/noise of the human collective." But instead of following his suggestion, Musk faced a wave of criticisms from his followers for endorsing those X accounts.
One user said: "Elon Musk boosting two regular fake news posters who have historically posted debunked videos neither are on the ground nor verified. both have shared AI-generated videos in the past as real. they just share any garbage they come across to rack up views."
"The guy Musk recommends for information on the Israel-Hamas escalation is an antisemitic account with a history of spreading misinformation," another tweet said.  News website Mediaite pointed out that @WarMonitors had previously referred to Hamas militants as "resistance fighters" and had used degrading language, including "slurs" when referring to the Jewish community. After hours of backlash, Musk eventually deleted the tweets and posted a revised version. "As always, please try [to] stay as close to the truth as possible, even for stuff you don’t like. This platform aspires to maximize signal/noise of the human collective."

Hamas militant group launched a series of attack on Israel

During the Jewish high holiday of Simchat Torah on Oct. 6, the Palestinian militant group Hamas initiated a barrage of attacks on Israel. The attacks involved gunmen breaching security barriers, a relentless shower of rockets fired from Gaza and the infiltration of Israeli territory by land, air, and sea. Hamas launched a massive rocket assault on southern Israel around 6:30 a.m., causing sirens to blare as far as Tel Aviv and Beersheba. The group claimed to have fired 5,000 rockets, while Israel's military confirmed around 2,500. (Related: The Israel Guys: Israel’s precision strikes took out terrorists in Gaza Strip – Brighteon.TV.) Moreover, the group infiltrated Israeli territory, breached security barriers and even used unconventional means like powered parachutes and motorboats. By 10 a.m., Palestinian fighters had breached several Israeli military installations. The attacks have claimed the lives of over 700 people, including innocent civilians, and left 2,315 wounded. It also bears eerie historical echoes, as it occurred precisely 50 years and a day after Egyptian and Syrian forces initiated an assault on Israel during the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur in an attempt to reclaim territory taken by Israel in a brief conflict in 1967. In response, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared the nation to be "at war" and promised that the perpetrators "will pay a price it has never known before." Hamas claimed to have captured Israeli Defense Force soldiers and civilians during their assault on Israeli border towns outside Gaza. In return, Israel initiated "Operation Sword of Iron," resulting in 198 Palestinians killed and 1,864 people injured. Visit Terrorism.news for more stories about the Hamas group attacks on Israel.
