Fact check: No, RFK, Jr. did not say COVID was an ethnically targeted bioweapon that spared Jews

The internet is ablaze with a story that claims RFK, Jr. said COVID was an ethnically targeted bioweapon that were engineered to spare Jews and Chinese people. This headline from the NY Post captures the meme that's going wild: "RFK Jr. says COVID was ‘ethnically targeted’ to spare Jews." The NY Post offers outstanding coverage on many important topics, but for this story, they got it wrong. RFK never actually said that he believed COVID was ethnically targeting certain groups while sparing Jews and Asians. Yet few people actually bother to read what RFK actually stated, which is the following (emphasis added): COVID-19. There is an argument that it is ethnically targeted. COVID-19 attacks certain races disproportionately. The races that are most immune to COVID-19 because of the genetic differentials among different races, because of the receptors, the ACE-2 receptor, COVID-19 is targeted to attack Caucasians and black people. The people who are most immune are Ashkenazi Jews and Chinese. We don’t know whether it was deliberately targeted or not but there are papers out there that show the racial or ethnic differential and impact. In other words, what RFK, Jr. actually said -- which is accurate -- is that certain ethnic groups are more susceptible to SARS-CoV-2 infections because they carry more ACE-2 receptor sites, which is determined by genetics. This statement is true. In fact, it's published science, as shown below:

Scientific findings on ACE-2 receptors and COVID susceptibility

A 2021 scientific paper published in MedRxIv.org found that those of European ethnicity were more susceptible to COVID infections compared to Asians and other groups. That paper, found here, is entitled, "SARS-CoV-2 susceptibility and ACE2 gene variations within diverse ethnic backgrounds." The paper confirms what RFK, Jr. is saying, concluding that: (emphasis added) We identified three novel nonsynonymous variants predicted to alter ACE2 function, and showed that three variants (p.K26R, p.H378R, p.Y515N) alter receptor affinity for the viral Spike (S) protein. Variants p.K26R and p.N720D are more prevalent in the European population (p < .001), but Y497H is less prevalent compared to East Asians (p = .020). The study was also covered in News Medical Life Sciences, which wrote: (emphasis added) According to a new study, angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) genetic variants may also help explain differences in infection rates among ethnic groups. Led by Ioannis Karakikes of Stanford University, a new study suggests some hospitalized patients with COVID-19 contain ACE2 genetic variants that increase ACE2 expression. Some variants that altered ACE2 protein expression and binding affinity were more prevalent in people with European backgrounds. From the positive cases, about 68.3% were of European descent, 17.5% were South Asian, and 2.7% were of African descent. People of East Asian (0.8%) and Ad Mixed American (0.2%) backgrounds made up the lowest number of cases. Approximately 10.5% of people were labeled as Other. The results confirmed that hospitalized patients with COVID-19 were statistically different across ethnic groups. In other words, actual published science confirms exactly what RFK, Jr. was referring to, which is that different ethnic groups are more susceptible to SARS-CoV-2 than others, based on the prevalence of ACE2 receptors, which is determined by genetics. Critically, RFK, Jr. states, "We don’t know whether it was deliberately targeted or not but there are papers out there that show the racial or ethnic differential and impact." That statement is true, rational and factually correct. Once again, this shows that RFK is willing to speak the truth even when people lose their minds and imagine him saying something he did not. We can only imagine that one of the reasons people are losing their minds over this statement is because the radical Left likes to imagine that biology and genetics aren't real and that people can simply "self-identify" as any biology they want. For them, this includes the delusional fantasy that men can transform themselves into women and then give birth as women. (Yes, Leftists actually believe this nonsense.) Thus, they have abandoned the very concept of genetics and biology, so when a paper appears that shows genetics can play a role in ACE-2 receptor sites, Leftists dismiss it for the simple reason that if biology and genetics were actually true, then their transgender fantasies couldn't be real after all. Thus, to defend their LGBT cult, they have to attack all genetic and biological science. Hence, when RFK cites actual genetic science, he gets attacked as a "racist."
