The former Russian president was likely referencing the RS-28 Sarmat — colloquially referred to as ‘Satan II’ — super-heavy intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) unveiled by Vladimir Putin in 2018. It is believed that were such a missile stationed in the Westernmost regions of Russia that it could potentially reach London in just 13 minutes.
Just last month, Medvedev threatened a nuclear attack against the International Criminal Court (ICC) in the Hague in the Netherlands after it issued an arrest warrant for Vladimir Putin over alleged war crimes in Ukraine following last year’s invasion, including the kidnapping of people, including children, from the country to Russia — a claim that Moscow denies. Medvedev went on to describe the ICC as "sh**ty and useless" while warning the court to be wary of raising "a hand against the largest nuclear power." “Alas, gentlemen, everyone walks under God and rockets,” he wrote. “It is quite possible to imagine the targeted use of a hypersonic launch from the North Sea from a Russian ship at the Hague courthouse.” In August, Medvedev suggested that Ukraine could eventually “disappear from the map” not long after warning about an approaching “Judgement Day.” In addition, Medvedev blew off President Joe Biden as little more than a “strange grandfather with dementia” in a scathing post on the Telegram platform, according to the UK’s Daily Mail. Also, the former Russian leader warned that NATO was actually “creating a real threat of world conflict and the death of a significant part of humanity” for sending lethal military aid to Ukraine as well as alliance troops to Europe’s eastern flank — countries like Lithuania and Estonia. The Daily Mail adds: The refusal of Ukraine and Western powers to recognise Moscow’s ownership of the peninsula poses a ‘systemic threat’ for Russia, the former president said on Sunday, before declaring the Kremlin would hit back with maximum force if the territory is attacked. In his latest Telegram post, Medvedev, now deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council, today warned Russia’s invasion – and the West’s response to it – could mean ‘Ukraine would lose the remnants of state sovereignty and disappear from the world map’. “NATO continues, contrary to logic and common sense, to approach the borders of Russia, creating a real threat of world conflict and the death of a significant part of humanity,” he said on Telegram. Russia cannot seem to make much progress against a country like Ukraine, so it's probably best not to threaten a country that is more powerful.
