Monterey Park police officers first responded to a dance hall, identified in government records as Star Ballroom Dance, after reports of a shooting came in at 10:22 p.m. Saturday, Luna said. People were rushing out of the hall as officers went into the business. Ten people were killed at the venue, and 10 others were taken to hospitals in conditions from stable to critical, Luna said. Four were being treated at LAC + USC Medical Center, the hospital confirmed.
Authorities were still working to identify the victims. Luna reported that five were women and five were men. He later said many were in their 50s, 60s and "beyond."
What's more, another angle that the garbage legacy media is largely ignoring: The suspected firearm used in the crime that Luna described as a "magazine-fed semi-automatic pistol" is not legal to own in California, proving once again that some of the most restrictive gun control laws in the country did nothing to thwart this horrific crime -- but they did make for plenty of unarmed victims who are now dead before their time.
To its credit, NBC News noted (though deep inside the article): "The possibility of a hate crime was part of the investigation, but authorities were also trying to determine whether the suspect knew any of the victims, Luna said. That aspect of the investigation will take time, he said, as the county coroner was still working on identifying victims."
Later Sunday, police swarmed to the suspected shooter's home and conducted a lengthy search of the premises, the Daily Wire reported. "It is unclear what exactly police were searching for or what was found," the outlet noted.
"The suspect reportedly was a regular at the dance studio he targeted, who at times provided 'informal' dance lessons, CNN reported, though it is unclear whether he had been to the studio in recent years. The outlet also noted that the suspect met his ex-wife at the same studio. The suspect reportedly saw her dancing and introduced himself, and the couple married a short time later," the outlet noted further.
The Daily Wire also noted that after the Star Ballroom shooting, the suspect tried getting into a second dance hall but was stopped by two people who managed to wrestle his firearm from him. He then fled in a white cargo van. Around 12 hours later, police managed to locate the van southwest of Monterey Park, according to a report from Reuters. As officers approached the van, guns drawn, they heard a single gunshot from inside. Moments later, they found the alleged gunman dead from a single gunshot wound to the head.
Again, it's not clear if this was a hate crime, but what is clear is that had this suspect been white, we would have been told by the vast majority of left-wing outlets and Democratic operates on cable news that he was a racist white nationalist terrorist.
